We got a Cricut!
I am so excited to learn how to use this Cricut. There has already been some trial and error with this machine. I am trying to make stickers for Timmy, he has such an interest in 80's horror films and there is just not a lot of merch that he likes out there. He wants it to look like it is from when these movies came out, so I created some stickers for him. He loves them! But the first issue we have is the sticker paper I got. It sucks! It is so thick and is not waterproof. The printer I have does not like it either, it does not want to grab the paper! So much wasted ink...Â
So, to Amazon I went! I found some great paper, but it smears. The reviews say to use a setting adhesive spray or second sheet of clear vinyl to put on top. We are going to try the spray and see how it goes!
I've been doing tests on just plain paper with the Cricut to see how it cuts the stickers out and what do you know EVERYTHING is off. I must have recalibrated this thing like 10 times. I was getting so frustrated, I almost threw this thing. Timmy could see I was getting cranky and turned to his trusty YouTube and found a video to help me. The video he found suggested the things below:
print the new Calibration Sheet from Cricut Design Space
place your mat all the way to the left
do not remove the mat in between the calibration settings
complete the calibration process in the dark, or with the lid down
And what do you know. IT WORKED. I was so happy it finally worked, I thought I had a defective Cricut. Another tip is when printing print-then-cut sheets is to save them as a PDF and then print so it prints correctly.
I cannot wait to get this spray and see if it helps with the smearing! I want to make so many cute stickers.
